Giethoorn for a day

A summer day at Giethoorn.

Giethoorn is a small town in the north of Holland and it is about 3 hours away from Rotterdam by train (direction Leeuwarden). If you are taking a direct train from Rotterdam or Amsterdam, the end destination is usually Leeuwarden and you have to get off at a station called "Steenwijk". From there you have to take the bus number 70 to the village, the ride takes around a little over 10 minutes. You won't get lost very easily as there will be a lot of tourists traveling to the same destination as well. If you are traveling on a sunny day (especially a hot summer sunny day), make sure to bring a good sunscreen with you as I got really a really bad sun burn after the trip.
